Canada-Ontario Environmental Farm Plan (EFP)

Farmers Plant Greener Future: Canada and Ontario Invest in Environmental Stewardship on Farms -- News Release June 22, 2009.

 This is a voluntary educational program for farm families delivered through local workshops. Participants are provided instruction on how to progress through the Risk Assessment and Action Plan development contained in the third edition EFP workbook. The Risk Assessment gives the opportunity to rate the current level of environmental concern in up to 23 different areas on the farm.

  EFP is funded through Growing Forward (GF), supported by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), under the Best Practices suite. Growing Forward supports the development of best practices in four key areas: environment and climate change; food safety and traceability; business development and biosecurity. Participants are encouraged to develop strategies across all these areas to meet their business goals through a variety of information sessions and workshops, as well as one-on-on training and technical assistance.
